WITH TALEND INTEGRATION SUITE MPX, TALEND INTRODUCES EXTREMELY SCALABLE DATA INTEGRATION FOR LARGE DATA VOLUMES

Benchmark on New Sun Blade Server Proves Talend´s Latest Solution
has Risen Above all Performance and Scalability Standards in a
Complex Data Processing Environment

LOS ALTOS, Calif., May 19, 2009à¢â‚¬à¢â‚¬Talend, the recognized market leader in open source data integration software, today announced the availability of Talend Integration Suite MPX, a new enterprise data integration platform specially designed to help organizations attain the highest levels of performance and shatter the limits typically associated with traditional data integration processes.

Based on Talend´s award winning, enterprise-grade data integration platform Talend Integration Suite, the new solution introduces the company´s FileScale technology. The latest breakthrough technology, FileScale, allows organizations to conduct highly parallelized processing. FileScale enables enterprises to process large volumes of data in even less time, while also eliminating the limitations inherent in traditional data integration architectures.

à¢â‚¬à…“Even as data volumes grow exponentially and processing windows shrink, organizations are under pressure to process and load data even faster to support time-sensitive, data-driven business methods, like operational business intelligence, performance management, just-in-time inventory, one-to-one marketing, and so on, said Philip Russom, a research manager at The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI). à¢â‚¬à…“Delivering large data volumes in a short period of time demands a data integration infrastructure that seamlessly processes data in parallel at every step of the way.

Fully compatible with projects developed with Talend Integration Suite, MPX leverages two key sets of features to attain extreme scalability:

à¢â‚¬¢	FileScale Talend's latest technology is based on the MapReduce architecture originally developed by Google for highly distributed processing of data in a data set mode. The FileScale components in Talend Integration Suite MPX allows integration processes to sort, filter and merge data, perform aggregation and arithmetic functions and transform and ensure the compliance of data. FileScale components are especially optimized for each supported platform, ensuring the highest possible performance.

à¢â‚¬¢	Massive Parallelization Talend Integration Suite MPX also features multiple levels of massive parallelization, allowing the execution of separate sub-processes in parallel, break down of data sets into many parallel streams and the ability to leverage parallel database loaders.

With Talend Integration Suite MPX, IT organizations are able to process high volumes of data very quickly, providing the most up to date insight into the enterprise´s operations. Data warehouses and analytic applications can be refreshed more often and can include more granular data for more accurate analysis all in efforts to equip the enterprise to make more informed and accurate business decisions.

"More customers are realizing their data is an untapped resource and looking for an effective solution to leverage their data. Talend Integration Suite MPX addresses the true needs of the enterprise by providing high volume data processing," said Fabrice Bonan, co-founder and COO of Talend. "This new solution, which has outperformed all benchmarks, introduces a new implementation of ground-breaking technology and algorithms and takes data processing to the next level."

A benchmark was performed with Sun Microsystems on a Sun Blade X6270 server, featuring two Xeon 5520 quadcore processors at 2,26GHz and 24 GB of RAM, and running Solaris 10 update 6. In this benchmark, Talend Integration Suite MPX reached levels of scalability in sorting and calculation tests that have never been met before. The benchmark was performed with industry-standard TPC-H data sets, ranging in size from six million to 3.3 billion records.

Results of the benchmark highlighted the following performance metrics:

à¢â‚¬¢	In-memory sorting of data reaching up to one million records per second with linear scalability.
à¢â‚¬¢	Record-breaking sorting of large data sets (3.3 billion records) at a speed of 200,000 to 400,000 records per second.
à¢â‚¬¢	Average calculation on large data sets (3.3 billion records) reaching 220,000 records per second.

Full results of the benchmark, analyzed and noted by Sun's performance expert, Amir Javanshir, can be obtained here: http://blogs.sun.com/aja/entry/talend_s_new_data_processing.

Talend Integration Suite MPX is available immediately and has been optimized on the following platforms: Windows 32 & 64 bit, Solaris & OpenSolaris (SPARC & Intel x86), IBM AIX, HP-UX and Linux 32 & 64 bit. For more information, please visit http://www.talend.com.

Enhanced Features of Talend Integration Suite and Talend Open Studio Improve Interoperability and Lower Costs Across an Organisation

Talend, the recognised market leader in open source data integration software, today announced the availability of version 3.1 of its flagship data integration solutions, Talend Open Studio and Talend Integration Suite. With a wealth of new and extended features for enterprise projects, the latest release offers a deep integration into the information system, enabling organisations across various industries to streamline the development and deployment of mission-critical data integration processes cost-effectively while reducing time-to-market.

Key new features in the latest version of Talend´s solutions include new monitoring and scheduling capabilities, enhanced business modeling and broader connectivity to legacy systems and business applications. Version 3.1 is highly focused on interoperability with the rest of the information system, extending the versatility of the solution and its reach across an organisation. In addition, this new release also offers a localised user interface in numerous languages.

à¢â‚¬à…“The needs of our customers and community users are always top of mind at Talend and a key factor in our product development, said Fabrice Bonan, co-founder and COO of Talend. à¢â‚¬à…“This latest version brings a higher level of interoperability, making it more versatile for all enterprise projects and allowing its users to decrease their overall data integration costs. In addition to the scalability and superior performance of Talend´s solution, our open source approach allows us to leverage the contributions of our community. The availability of the industry´s first localised user interface through community-contributed language packs is a prime example of the power and flexibility of open source.

Talend version 3.1 offers the following features and benefits:

Enterprise Monitoring with Nagios - Version 3.1 now fully integrates with Nagios, the industry standard platform for enterprise-class system, network and application monitoring. This new feature improves monitoring and management of data integration projects and processes, providing a centralised monitoring, reporting and alerting console for IT operations and project managers. As a result, development teams can spend less time manually and individually tracking errors, system failures and throughput performance. Also, since the monitoring of data integration can easily be integrated with the overall IT operations function, it provides a more timely and responsive escalation process when a failure occurs, reducing costly downtimes and ensuring the freshness of data.

Execution Planning & Dashboard - Version 3.1 features the new Task Execution Dashboard. Fully integrated to Talend Integration Suite's Web 2.0 administration and scheduling console, the Task Execution Dashboard provides at-a-glance visibility on all data integration processes past runs and future scheduled executions. It allows IT departments to get real-time execution and performance information on their data integration processes, and to better optimise the use of IT resources.

Legacy Systems and Business Applications Integration - Version 3.1 provides extended connectivity to a number of legacy systems and technologies, including support for complex flat files (multi-schema files), COBOL Copybooks and EBCDIC files, including Computations, as well as business applications such as Alfresco, Salesforce.com, SPSS, SAS and Intuit´s QuickBooks. This extended connectivity provides organisations with a single tool to streamline processes across departments and increase productivity. With over 400 connectors to sources and targets, Talend provides the broadest set of connectors to enterprise systems.
New, Redesigned Business Modeler - For business users, version 3.1 features a redesigned Business Modeler that enables non-technical users to create workflow-type representations of the data integration processes. The Business Modeler streamlines communications between the business user and development teams, reducing the time organisations have to spend defining requirements and modeling new projects and giving the business user much-needed insight into the development process.

Community-contributed language packs - Four months after launching Talend Babili, the first community translation project for open source data integration, Talend introduces nine language packs for localisation of the user interface. Version 3.1 is the only data integration solution to include such language packs, providing a localized user experience for designers and developers and extending Talend´s reach in the global market.

Talend Open Studio and Talend Integration Suite 3.1 are available immediately. Talend Open Studio is provided under the GPL license and can be downloaded at no charge at http://www.talend.com/download.php. Talend Integration Suite is provided under a subscription license. Fully translated language packs for version 3.1 are available in French, German, Italian and Chinese. Partial packs are available in Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Korean, with further translation work in progress. For more information, please visit http://www.talend.com.

Talend Open Studio has more than four million lifetime downloads and 900,000 core product downloads. Along with enterprise-version Talend Integration Suite, it is a less expensive and more scalable open source alternative to proprietary data integration solutions that require costly initial investment and rely heavily on IT resources for maintenance and upgrades. Talend Integration Suite is an enterprise-grade, high-performance data integration offering that extends the functionality of Talend Open Studio, with technical support and additional features for collaboration and deployment in large enterprise settings.

MAIDENHEAD, United Kingdom - April 16, 2009 - Virgin Money, the financial services arm of the Virgin Group has announced the launch of a non-profit organisation ´Virgin Money Giving´ which will provide a full range of online fundraising and donation services using Talend Integration Suite. UK fundraising will be facilitated through an online donations website and Talend´s Integration Suite will be the technology behind every fundraising event and donation that Virgin Money Giving facilitates, ensuring data quality and consistency to enable efficient reporting of management information a vital requirement in the non-profit sector.

The non-profit sector is a highly competitive industry with a great need for organisations to be as efficient as possible. Having just signed a five-year deal to be the official sponsor of the London Marathon, Virgin Money Giving has selected Talend Integration Suite to provide detailed information essential for reporting and strategic decision-making.

Chris Edwards, System Delivery Manager, Virgin Money commented: à¢â‚¬à…“We looked at a number of data integration specialists but for us, Talend really stood out. One of the main reasons for selecting Talend was for its technology fit. The fact that Talend´s Integration Suite is also open source is very commercially appealing. It is a great product and the vast range of features that it offers including advanced deployment and scheduling, and live production monitoring, will enable us to customise data integration processes to suit any specific requirements of each charity. This freedom will truly benefit both Virgin Money Giving and its customers providing high quality, flexible MI.

à¢â‚¬à…“Talend Integration Suite will be used primarily for its high-throughput and reliable ETL capabilities, moving operational data into separate reporting repository and transform it so it is optimised for high volume reporting, added Chris.

Talend Integration Suite consolidates all project information and enterprise metadata in a centralised repository that is shared by all stakeholders in the integration processes: business users, job developers, and IT operations staff all of whom can access the same, single version of the truth.

More than £100m was raised through online giving in 2007 and an even higher amount is expected this year. The knock on effect of this trend is the increasing challenge for non-profit organisations to realise data accuracy, integration and consolidation.

Franà§ois Mà©ro, Talend's General Manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, expressed: à¢â‚¬à…“On the footsteps of the launch of our UK operations, we are delighted to count Virgin Money Giving among our customers. Virgin Money Giving will deal with huge volumes of data and so it is crucial that the technology moving and processing this data is robust and secure, and we are confident that Talend meets this need perfectly.
